Literature Text

In a dream I heard your voice,
Through curtains of silk and gold.
And when I went to find you,
What I saw was beautiful to behold.

We danced across the marble floor,
And your eyes shone like crystal.
But back to reality once more,
You'll never know how much I miss you.

Lying alone in my own drab clothes,
My sheets wrapped around me,
I think of that sweet dream,
And know where it is I want to be.

But now you see we're oceans apart,
Separated by so much water.
Oh how much I hate to depart,
But I can not sleep forever.

So only in our dreams may we meet,
Dancing palm to palm,
If only I could be in your arms,
I would feel so calm.

Maybe chance will come to us,
Inspire Lady Luck,
Part the vast oceans that keep us apart,
But for now my dear we're stuck.

Don't forget me, don't give up hope,
For you know indeed I love you much.
For perhaps one day the barrier dissolves...

And our fingers then will touch.
This is less for me than it is for someone else, in meaning.
